Class Description:
In Chemistry, we use Onenote for most of our notes and lessons. Our OneNote is organized with Units across the tabs at the top and then lesson dates with brief topic descriptions along the right side tabs within a unit. You can expect to take notes and solve problems in a designated chemistry notebook.
Units of Study:
My Chemistry class consists of 10 units of study.
Trimester 1: Unit 1: Matter, Unit 2: Atoms, Unit 3: Periodic Table, Unit 4: Ionic Compounds
Trimester 2: Unit 5: Covalent compounds, Unit 6: Reactions, Unit 7: The Mole
Trimester 3: Unit 8: Stoichiometry, Unit 9: Gases, Unit 10: Acids, Bases, Solutions
Assessments:
Formative Assessments: Formative assessments will happen regularly to gauge student mastery towards preparing them for their summative and final exam. I will aim to give one at least every other week.
Summative Assessments: Each unit will culminate with a summative assessment with a total of 10 for the year. Additionally, large projects and Performance Assessments will be in this category.
Final Exams: Students will also take Final Exam three times a year at the end of each trimester.
